Sync For SQLServer - Walkthrough
Friday, 29 June 2007

The following section gives you an quick overview on how you can synchronize your database objects.
Sync For SQLServer usage is wizard like. You always perform the same steps. It is very easy. You don't have to deal with several single database objects, the process is applied to your database as a whole: create one script and run! And your data will be kept completely intact.

You select your "Data Source" database and your "Destination", the database to be updated. Then you simply press the "Compare" button. After the compare run the differences between the both databases will be displayed in the "Difference View". Here you can view several aspects of your object differences like table differences, key differences, view differences, user defined functions and stored procedure differences.

You can also see a detailed difference report. You can export the differences in different formats like XML, Excel and Word.

The next step is to set default values for new columns which in some cases have to be added to some of your "Destination" database tables.

Then you press the "Script Changes" button. After this action has been performed your ready to run "Change Script" will be displayed in the SQL editor. From here you can run it directly on your "Destination" database.
